Rocio Bauer’s profile over at WashingtonExec is worth your time if you’re thinking about what leadership looks like when you’re serving the Army through a technology lens. She’s spent her career at the intersection of mission and modernization, and the through-line is clear: deep technical chops married to an understanding of how the institution actually works.
That combination is harder to find than you’d think. I can map a market and surface plenty of technologists who’ve worked federal contracts, and I can find plenty of former uniformed leaders who understand the Army. But the candidates who can translate warfighter requirements into executable technology strategy—and then build and lead the teams to deliver it—are a much shorter list. It’s one reason why retained searches at the senior level take the time they do.
If you’re a cleared technology executive looking at Army-facing roles, her career is a useful template. Credibility on both sides of the table matters, and you can’t fake the years it takes to earn it.
